chapter 10

Just finishing up chapter 10 . I learned all about the different business models and approaches to e-business . Also I learned  about the different ways for a website to make money . I also learned that company's have intanets ,I did not know this existed .

chapter 9

Just finishing chapter 9 and as I currently take a web design class a lot of this information wasn't new . There were a few things like JavaScript I didn't know what that was and its another way to make web pages .  Also my other class hasn't gone over web hosting , I understand it but didn't know how many choices there are . Kind of silly also by I was unaware you had to publish a web page.

chapter 8

In this chapter I learned a lot about wireless connections  Ive known a little bit about it but never having a mobile Internet device never used and really understood it. Mifi is one thing I learned about and sounds like great for traveling and on the go to be able to make your own hot spot .Also I learned  about  Wireless Mesh Network ,I had never heard of this before . The last thing I learned was about hacking into bluetooths . I didn't think that would even be possible until I  learned about all there actual functions . The amount of things hackers can do through these devices makes me glad I don't use one.

Chapter 7

Just finished reading chapter 7 . Most of this chapter was about computer safety. A lot of this information I was familiar with but didn't know a lot about. In fact I knew what a Trojan horse was but not how it worked mainly that it could stay inactive for a period of time then be activated. Also I learned that you could purchase  a digital id to always let people and servers know that you are who you are and not a impostor . I learned that a hacker is not always a unethical person but cracker is.

Tutorial 6

Just got done reading chapter 6 . I learned some new information like I thought that Myspace was the first social network ,it was not . In fact it was Classmates.com was and it was started in 1995 . I also learned Reputation Management this was a job field that I never new existed but in today's world it seems like a good Carrier with the many outlets for people to say what they want ,true or not. One more thing I learned was that are online political networks. This to me seems like a good idea for politics to stand on there own and away from the craziness of some sites . To me a President checking his Myspace page would be a bit odd.

chapter 5

just finished reading chapter 5 and learned a few new things. First I learned about online public library's ,which I went and checked out and its very cool to use. The second subject I learned about was copyright laws , mainly that there not well defined when it comes to the Internet . Thirdly I learned about wiki websites I have stayed away from them (for some odd reason) but reading about them I wont be so weary of them.

chapter 3 and 4

just got done reading chapter three and four. There was allot of new information for me . I didn't realize that most e-mail accounts are free , I thought they had small fees. Another thing I learned was that windows had a profile setting kind of like a facebook. As i don't use the sites i had no clue. Also their privacy settings were set very carefully it was nice to see that you had control over your info. Also that the sharing photos on windows without e-mails that's a pretty neat and convenient asset to to windows.
                    
                   Chapter four was all a about search  engines the first thing i learned was that there were allot more than i thought! Clusty,dogpile,wolfram alpha,ect.. I also learned about how a search engine worked .I use them every day and don't know much about then nor do many people. I had no clue about web robot or spider that searches the engines database.Another  thing i learned was how helpful advanced search can be after reading i try ed it out and it was very helpful .

Chapter 2

Just finished reading chapter 2.There was allot of new information for me but one was the pages on Netiqutte. Netiqutte is phrase used for commonly accepted rules on the Internet. Not being someone who uses Internet communication all that much i had never really thought about it. One rule that stuck with me was the  one about not using all caps because it comes off is if you are shouting. This is something i ve probably done in the past and never thought about it but it does make sense when you think about it. The second thing i took from this chapter was learning about Opera mail and Thunderbird . Pretty much always using  comcast mail there was allot to learn about both these programs. There are allot of similarity's with small differences .My favorite was not in the functions but in  the layouts of screen. I thought that Thunderbird was nice open and easy to maintain but not enough to make me switch.The third subject that i took allot from was the pages on spam. This subject was allot more complex than i had originally conceived it to be. Originally just thinking of it as junk mail and not much harm was completely wrong. This was a vary informative section one that anyone with a computer should read.

chapter 1

 Just getting done reading chapter 1, it went over alota basics. One thing i wasnt familiar with was in-private browsing.Haven seen this several times  in  the saftey bar and never used it  it was nice learning its function. This seems like a good tool while sharening a computer and at times using a public computer.Also ive never saved a web page to a disc or card . The steps of this are easier than highlight,copy , and paste so this helpful to me. In this chapter it explains FireFox ,never used it! So everything i learned about it was new to me . I like my browser and will be sticking with it.
